Construction versions :
Multiple radial impellers are placed in series on a common pump shaft. Each impeller rotates in its own radially shared pump casing/stage. The stages are interconnected with the first stage feeding the next and so on, increasing the pressure with each stage. The most commonly used design is the one in which the pump shaft is supported by ball bearings in a bearing seat outside the liquid portion of the pump.
